BRUCE BEACH JUNIOR GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 2007 Junior Golf Tournament was held July 20th and it was another enjoyable event for the youngsters at Bruce Beach. The 36 eager golfers, with their golf bags in tow, arrived at the clubhouse ready to play! Keeping with tradition, there was a drive, chip and putt contest was followed by a 3-hole tournament, lunch and prizes. Thank you to Graeme Henderson who did a wonderful job piping in the opening ceremonies. Thanks again to the multi-generational volunteer team who helped with the set up, contests, leading the teams and foursomes, lunch distribution, prize draws and even clean up. It was also nice to see the older golfers accepting their new role as volunteers thus, making room for the delightful little ones. Special thanks to Letizia Pottier for organizing the raffle items/draws and to Doug Pottier, Jason Adam and David Gregoris for providing the fabulous prizes for all of the golfers. Once again, a heartfelt thank you to Tom Clark, who donated more of his cherished trophies and whose presence made the event even more meaningful. At Tom’s request, a special trophy was given to the outstanding golfer at this tournament, in honour of his friend the late Robert MacFarlane. The 2007 recipient of this award was Tommy Hughes.
Mark your calendars for the next Bruce Beach Junior Golf Tournament which will take place on Friday July 18th, 2008 at 8:45 am. Boys and Girls from 6 to 16 years of age are encouraged to participate!
