LAWN WATERING

Lawns can be watered only from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM from June 1 to Sept 15. Even numbered cottages can water on even numbered days; and odd numbered cottages on odd numbered days.

GARBAGE COLLECTION

  1. Garbage collection is on Tuesday. From the 6th to the 8th Concessions, pickup will commence the week of May 2nd and will end the week of October 24th. From the 8th to the 10th Concessions, pickup is weekly year round. 
  2. All garbage must be placed in plastic garbage bags with Township Tags ($2.00 each). Garbage bags must not exceed 25 lbs (11.5 kg). There is a limit of 4 bags per household. Only kitchen garbage is accepted and garbage bags must be tied. No leaves or grass cuttings – please use your composter. 
  3. Township tags may be purchased for $2.00 each at the following locations: 
    • Zehrs 
    • Sobey’s 
    • Mac Adams
    • Knechtel’s 
    • HK Municipal Office
    • Highway Variety 
    • Ripley Food Market
    • Huron Landfill site 
  4. Recycling facilities are available at the Huron Landfill Site (See Insert Your Blue Box). 
  5. Blue box pick up is every other Thursday, starting May 5th. 
  6. There is no township-arranged heavy garbage 
  7. Open hours at the Huron Landfill Site. Year round …Tues, Fri. & Sat. … 10:00 am to 4:00 pm 

Please note: All material disposed into the Huron Landfill trench will be charged at a rate of $75 per tonne with a $15 minimum charge per load. Brush, tires, scrap steel, durables, white goods and most electronics are free of charge.

FREE LANDFILL DAY

There is one free landfill day – Saturday, June 18th. All material delivered to the Huron Landfill trench that day will be accepted free of charge with the exception of non-tagged refrigeration items.

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAYS

Residents of Bruce County are encouraged to dispose of household hazardous waste at one of the County of Bruce Household Waste Events held in July and August. There will be two Saturdays for Kincardine’s Valentine Avenue site: May 28th 9:00 – 2:00 and August 27th 1:00 – 4:00.
