WRAFT
Dear WRAFT Member,
At the WRAFT Annual General Meeting in the fall of 2009, many members expressed the desire to have some information which would assist them in dealing with inappropriate assessments.
Attached to this message you will find three documents which should be of some assistance:
1) Background and information on how to deal with an inappropriate assessment;
2) Information on challenging your assessment through the Request for Reconsideration process;
3) Information on filing an Appeal with the Assessment Review Board (ARB).
Please note the deadline for requesting reconsideration is March 31! This information should be circulated to your respective members and contacts at your earliest convenience.
Thank you for your continued interest and support and stay tuned for more information from WRAFT about property taxation in Ontario.

First of all, on behalf of the Board of Directors of WRAFT, I want to apologize for the recent lack of communication from the organisation We have been busy implementing the association of WRAFT and FOCA and ensuring that the takeover of administrative responsibilities has gone smoothly.
[img_assist|nid=562|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=200|height=52]Attached is a press release made on Dec 22 and an accompanying backgrounder. We are being bombarded with messages about the inequity of the 2008 assessment at the top of the market. Hence we are calling for the scrapping of the 2008 assessment.
Perhaps some BBCA members in Toronto might be interested in attending on Nov 22?
Dear Association Executive,
Attached please find the Notice of the Annual General Meeting of WRAFT being held following the annual meeting of FOCA on November 22. Also attached is notice of a Town Hall Meeting to be held immediately following a short WRAFT AGM.
Attached is a report to the WRAFT membership. Please distribute it as soon as possible to your membership. Note the date of the WRAFT Annual Meeting. We are hoping for a good turnout to express as strongly as possible our concerns with the existing property tax system. There is also information regarding the timing of the assessments on your property - also, if you wish to know when you will receive your assessment notice go to the MPAC website.

An urgent request from WRAFT is attached regarding property taxes.
Dear association member,
The attached article was carried in the Globe and Mail on May 16. The media are particularly interested in hardship cases and we would appreciate hearing from any of your members who are willing to be used as examples of the inequity in the current property tax system. We also take this opportunity to remind all members to sign the petition on our websites.
Dear Association Member,Attached is the spring report to our membership. Please circulate it to your membership. Through you we are asking all our WRAFT members to sign a petition on our website. This fall Ontario home and cottage owners will receive an assessment covering the past three years. Unless further reforms are introduced, this will again shift further taxes onto waterfront properties across the province.
THE YEAR AHEAD: MORE WORK TO DO
This past November WRAFT held its Annual Meeting and received a strong endorsement from its member associations to continue the battle for property tax reform-for which we are grateful. 2008 will be a critical year in that struggle. Without serious reform this year, 2008 assessments will bring massive tax hikes for hundreds of thousands of Ontario home and cottage owners.
