MacMasters, Patrick “Pat” Gene, of Kincardine, suddenly at South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in his 57th year.

Beloved husband of Dianne MacMasters (née Dahonick). Dear father of Jesse James (Denise) MacMasters of Toronto, Ryan MacMasters (Brooke Kempton) of Kincardine and Chrissy MacMasters (Brock Lowry) of R.R.#4 Kincardine and their soon to arrive son and first grandchild. Loved son of Ilene MacMasters of Kincardine. Sadly missed by his brothers Bob (Dawn) MacMasters of St. Catharines and Ken MacMasters of Niagara Falls. Lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joan and Ed Dahonick of Kincardine. Survived by his aunts, Anne MacMaster of Kincardine, and Inez Mills of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and the extended Dahonick and Wasdell families. Predeceased by his father Bob MacMasters, his uncles Wes MacMaster and Wayne Mills.

Visitation will be held at Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine on Monday, January 9, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Kincardine United Church on Tuesday, January 10, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Kenneth Craig officiating. It is the family’s wish that everyone come dressed casual to the funeral, as that is what Pat would have wanted.

Memorial donations to the Kincardine Food Bank or Women’s House Serving Grey Bruce would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Summer Job Opportunity

Here is an opportunity for someone to work for the summer from the cottage. This opportunity could probably be split between a couple of contacts or done by one person. Kelly Lawson is the contact person and she requires someone to assist her parents at the cottage over the summer.

Pine River Cheese Factory Celebration

Pine River Cheese has a lot to celebrate.

The cheese and butter co-operative, located south of Kincardine on Highway 21, is 125 years old, and has received a $100,000 grant from the provincial government to develop products and expand its business.

Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell was on hand Thursday afternoon (March 18), to congratulate the company and present its new general manager, Vijay Kumar, with a certificate from the government, acknowledging the 125 years of achievement.

"This is quite a milestone," she said, "125 years of hard work and determination, resulting in continued success in Bruce County."

Mitchell said she has fond memories of travelling with her grandfather on his annual journey to pick up his stockpile of Pine River cheese. … continue reading »
