Neighbourhood Watch at Bruce Beach

Neighbourhood WatchNeighbourhood Watch
The following e-mail message spells out the importance of having an eye out for our neighbour's property when at the beach.
-----
We received news yesterday that our cottage at 176 Bruce Beach had been broken into probably on Friday night Oct 16th. The intruders came in through a window in our sun room on the second floor although the cottage was apparently locked up tightly. Tools that were being used by our neighbor to do some work on the cottage were stolen but we don't yet know if anything else was taken because we are living in the Netherlands and can't get to the cottage to see. The police have been in to investigate and I understand from them that the cottage next to us was also broken into.

We wanted to let you know so that you will be aware and perhaps can alert others to the fact so that they will be on the lookout for anything going on along the beach. The investigating officer is Karen Green and the number to call is 519 396 3341 if anyone has a similar problem or wants to report anything. I believe there is a cottage watch group that keeps an eye on our cottages over the winter and if so it would be a good idea to let them know that there have been at least two break-ins so far this season - not a good start to the winter!

Best regards,
Heather and Jim Wall

Bruce Beach Road (gravel section)

This is meant as an information message to those people who own cottages along the gravel portion of Bruce Beach Road.

The condition of the road has been deteriorating over the past several years despite the fact that we signed a petition stating that we expected the road to be regularly maintained (but not paved) several years ago.… continue reading »

Bruce Beach Neighbourhood Watch

Please be vigilant around the beach, particularly in the off season when there are a lot of vacant cottages. If you see someone around the cottages who you do not recognize, approach them, find out whether you may be of asistance. If you see a vehicle of question, make a note of the licence number.

The following is a note I just received from Jim Woods, cotage 83, at the base of the 8th hill.… continue reading »

Clarke.  This time they are stealing barbeques, chimineas, etc.  The police are looking for a grey pick-up truck, with no licence plates.

One is a teen/childs bike green and black, with a black, rectangular basket on the rear bumper. You may have seen Matt Glazier riding this bike when he delivers the G&M paper in the morning.… continue reading »

Bruce Beach Neighbourhood Watch

Due to the number of incidents the last while perhaps it is time to institute a NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH along Bruce Beach.  If you see something or somebody that doesn't look right, somebody that you question has any business being on Bruce Beach, challenge them.  Ask them whether you might help them with what they are looking for just to let them know that someone is aware of them being on the property and, if in doubt, do not hesitate to call the O.P.P.… continue reading »
