Great Lakes Public TV MI DNR 10 Study
Submitted by Ross Klopp on April 22, 2010 - 2:00amHere is a wonderful doucumentry on the quality of the LAKES, decline of fish due to saltwater ships discharging ballast and depositing many unwanted organisims. This resulting in the loss of food chain of the "Good Fish" ect..
There is a web site which should be reviewed www.lakeinvaders.com.
They have had a DNR Research Fishing boat, with all the up to date equiptment and staff of fish biology/fishing experts with all types of nets, dredges going from Port Huron making some 15 stops to sample the fish, sizes, what they are eating, water clairity, weeds, algie, water birds, an results paraelle what we have noted for the past 15 years at Point Clark and up and down the Beach and into the water. It is more than the Mega Farms, but they also contribute to the overall decline. This, of course, eliminates the fishing, the beach goers and the $$ to merchants, cottage owners, marinas, gas stations and resorts.

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – The Obama administration has developed a five-year blueprint for rescuing the Great Lakes, a sprawling ecosystem plagued by toxic contamination, shrinking wildlife habitat and invasive species.
The plan envisions spending more than $2.2 billion for long-awaited repairs after a century of damage to the lakes, which hold 20 percent of the world's fresh water. The Associated Press obtained a copy of the document, which Lisa Jackson, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, was releasing at a news conference Sunday in Washington.
