Submitted by Ross Klopp on October 15, 2009 - 2:44pmThanksgiving Hockey Classic 2009
Many thanks to the Bruce Beachers who attended the Lucknow Arena on Sunday 11 October to support us in our 12th Thanksgiving game vs Port Albert. Though down 5-2, we battled back to tie the game. We hold a slight edge in the series with 6 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie.
Attached you'll find a photo of our team. Unfortunately our goalie, Bill Droine, was a late scratch when he was taken to hospital due to a kidney stone. Best wishes Bill in your recovery.
Team members were: John Sedgewick, Brent Stief, Richard Keeso, Jim McDonald, Dave Ceolin, Sandy Henderson, Dave McPherson, Andrew McClear, Chad Winterberger, Dave Brisbin, Russ Sutton, Mike Buchanan, Tommie Hughes.

Family Hockey
Submitted by beachcomber on December 3, 2007 - 10:10pmDave Brisbin here.
I've contacted the Ripley Arena/Mike Fair, who advises me that there are several time slots available for rental if cottagers are interested in a 'friendly, family hockey game'. My idea is to use a tennis ball rather than a puck, to cut down on injuries and reduce the amount of equipment required. Mike indicated that the arena has no equipment stipulations but I would recommend players bring helmets and elbow pads. I'm looking for wives, partners and kids who are interested. Would you kindly advise me by return email which date is your first and second choice. I will then forward an email back to you with the date preferred by most, if we have enough to make it worthwhile. Cost is $105.00 including GST. So far, the following times are available, so the sooner you can indicate your preference, the sooner I can book and reserve a time. Even if someone can't skate, we can always use goalies to stand between the pipes in a pair of boots!… continue reading »
