Important Bluewater Wind Farm Meetings

There are two important meetings taking place over the next while concerning the Bluewater Wind Turbines. There is also some confusion concerning these meetings. Only one of these meetings is being conducted by the Township of Huron-Kinloss and that is the meeting of Monday, July 26th at the Township office at 7:00 pm to review the zoning bylaw and remove restrictions concerning the erection of wind turbines. The provincial government has dictated that the Green Energy Act supersedes any township zoning restrictions pertaining to wind turbines.

The meeting of Tuesday, August 10th at the Ripley Community Centre from 5:30pm to 8:00pm is a Public Meeting to review the Notice of Proposal of the Blue Water Wind Project. It is not a township meeting, it is a meeting arranged by Bluewater Wind Farm, a division of International Power Inc., as well as the IBI Group, Bluewater's consulting group, to show the public their plans for the wind turbines in the area.

If you are concerned about the changes by the township of the zoning to accomodate the wind turbines it is important that you attend the meeting on Monday, July 26th.

The meeting of Tuesday, August 10th is just to show you what International Power Inc have in store for the area and, although the township will most likely be in attendance, they will not be taking part in the "discussion". It is probably more important for you to contact your MPP, both Carol Mitchell, and your local MPP if you permanent address is outside the Huron-Kinloss area, and let them know your opinion as to the changes being made that do not allow the municipality to regulate the locations of wind turbines and this would best be done prior to the August 10th meeting.
