Peacefully at home, surrounded by family, in her 90th year, on Sunday, February 19, 2017. Patricia (Henderson), loving wife of the late Robert Malcolm McFarlane MD (2006). Daughter of the late Myra and the late William Henderson. She leaves her three adoring daughters, Janie (Cope Smith), Wendy, and Laurie (Brian Hughes), her very special grandchildren, Kristin (John Zazzarino), Rob, Charles, and Tommy, and cherished great- grandchildren, James and Olivia. Fondly remembered by her sister Barbara (Keith MacDonald), and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret, “The Bride “ of the late Bob Sedgewick(1984), daughter of the late Agnes (1978) and the late George Wilson (1959), twin of the late Dunc Wilson (1999) and beloved sister of Lily Fraser Anthony.

For those of you unaware, Geoff Peach, a founder of the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation passed away recently. Geoff was a strong proponent of coastal environmental preservation and promotion. His ground-breaking work has left a huge footprint on the landscape of Lake Huron. Geoff Peach, whose creativity and foresight helped establish the Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation in 1998 and who has been a significant voice in coastal management in Ontario for over 30 years, passed away on Saturday, Jan

Mary died at Briton House on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Born in Wingham in 1913, she graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1936, when she and her brother George took over the family store after the sudden death of their father. She was married to Borden Spears from 1944 until his death in 1983. They had four children: George (Kasia Seydegart), Laura Mullin (Allan), John (Elisabeth Marsden) and Tom (Deborah).

Ainsdale Golf Course has been sold to Kincardine native and former U.S. collegiate golfer Taylor Candler (Schmidt) and her husband Charles, a golf pro who is originally from Sanford, Florida.  The Candlers, who currently reside in Wichita, Kansas, with their 4 ½ month old son Wyatt, will take over the 18-hole golf course on Jan.

Thanks to the many replies and several sign-ons to the draft letter circulated last week offering advice to the Canadian federal minister of the environment on the conduct of the review of the "additional information" Ontario Power Generation was to have provided by the end of 2016 about their proposal to bury nuclear waste beside Lake Huron. 





Interested Parties

January 3, 2017 - On December 28, 2016, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency received the additional information from Ontario Power Generation (OPG) in response to an information request made by the Minister of Environment and Climate Change on February 18, 2016 regarding the Deep Geologic Repository for Low and Intermediate Level Radioactive Waste Project. The additional information is publically available on the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry Site (the registry) at the following location:  http://www.ceaa-acee.gc.ca/050/document-eng.cfm?document=116741.
