Laura, my mother, may be one of the last  of the “original” Bruce Beachers.  She started coming here after she met Doug at Camp Kintail in about 1923 when they drove in on the beach, mail was delivered on the beach and the garbage was collected on the beach, as well.  A couple of years later my grandfather Rev. Charles H. MacDonald completed the building of Cottage 112 (he had already built Cottage 111).   They always enjoyed their time here for R & R, swimming, golfing, playing tennis and going to church in “The Grove” at Bruce Beach and we, as a family, always spent one month of the summer at 112 when we were growing up.  They moved to their “beloved” Bruce Beach when they retired and enjoyed over 25 more years living ,year round, in their retirement house (112-2).   Their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren still come to BB from Australia, the United States, Winnipeg, Calgary, Mississauga, Waterloo and Barrie.  Many memories have been made here at “the cottage” over all the years.
