A beautiful and special lady, Shirley passed away peacefully in Toronto in her 93rd year, after a full and happy life with her late husband Dr. James Findlay (Jim) Murray (1920-2003), and children John (Jenny), Claire, Bill (Stephanie) and Hugh (Diana). Cherished grandmother (Nonnie) of Amy Forte (Mark), Katie Milne, Scott and Cameron Murray, and Rob and Olivia Murray. Great-grandmother of Lucia, Vitorio and Francesco Forte. Daughter of the late James Herbert Schofield and his wife Muriel (Harkness) and step-daughter of the late David Black. Sadly missed by her sister, Audrey Crawford (Bill), her nephew, Gregg Blachford, and nieces, Barb Mason and Jennifer Campbell.

Shirley was born in Montreal and raised in Toronto. She met husband Jim while working as a lab technician at Toronto General Hospital, and went on to raise her children in Leaside and North Toronto. Her passion was her family and her dedication to providing a loving and happy home is something that will always be cherished by her offspring.

Over the years she devoted much time to volunteer work for several organizations including Toronto East General Hospital, Sunnybrook Hospital, Art Gallery of Ontario and The Garden Club of Toronto. Among her favourite activities were skiing, tennis, golf and especially many summers spent at Bruce Beach with family and friends. She also enjoyed many years later in life living in Clarksburg, Thornbury and Collingwood, Ontario.

A memorial service will be held on Mon Sept 15, 11:00 am, at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Ave W, Toronto, ON M4R 1A8 (
