My decision to run for council is based on a desire to play a larger part in the community. I am recently retired and have more time to focus on local issues and believe my experiences in industry as a tradesman would be of assistance in a councillor role.

My biggest concerns which require immediate attention are health care, our food supply and housing for the young adults and elderly as well.

Health care is looking like it might totally implode at the moment and it could be valuably assisted by naturopathic professionals who are the first line of defense in keeping people healthy and out of the hospitals. I would suggest walk-in wellness centers in every community that would draw funding from our tax dollars that would be otherwise more costly in a hospital environment.

Preserving valuable farmland is crucial in my view with multi generational farms being the foundation. Having unfettered access to locally grown food is most important and interference from government agencies has been an issue in the past and looks to be worse in the future.

Housing I believe could be addressed by more direct investing at the local level as opposed to having investments which are global and possibly unethical like "sweat shops" in third world countries. I am putting my money where my mouth is on this topic by investing in local business and soon in housing.

I have a conscience and good intentions and will serve the township well as a councillor.

Respectfully,
Al Church
