Bruce Beach Cottagers Request for Candidate Information

I sent the following request to all the Huron-Kinloss candidates that are running for seats on Council. That includes the positions of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors.

Dear Candidate,

Do you have a campaign platform or other campaign statements that you are willing to share publicly with the Bruce Beach, Lurgan Beach, Blair Grove and Point Clark communities? I leave it up to you to determine what's important for your campaign, but we are specifically interested in learning about you, your work and public service experience and your positions on issues important to the lakeshore community. Also, if you have a web site or other social media links that you are using that would be helpful to include.

You should expect that any information you provide may be shared with others in the Lakeshore community via postings on the Bruce Beach websites, email, Facebook and Twitter social media platforms. The information you provide will not be edited except for length. I suggest that something less than 1000 words would be appropriate and links to additional information can be included. If graphics and precise formatting are important, then please use the PDF format, but text, html, jpeg and png can be used too.

My intent is to provide information from all the candidates in one place and have the postings available, by Sept 10, 2022. If you have not responded by that time then that will be noted in the website posting. You will each be sent a link to the posting on the website once it's complete.

I wish each of you great success with your campaigns.

Regards,
Doug Dunlop

Some of the canidates had already received information requests from The Kincardine Record and The Kincardine Independent and chose to provide their responses to those requests as their replies. Below are those questions.

The Kincardine Record Questions

  1. Where do you live and work? Your age, family, organizations you belong to?
  2. Why are you running for council?
  3. Was there something that prompted you to run for deputy mayor?
  4. What experience do you have with municipal politics, local government, boards and committees, or any other level of government?
  5. What do you believe are the major issues facing the Township of Huron-Kinloss

The Kincardine Independent Questions

  1. Why are you running?
  2. What do you feel are the biggest challenges facing the municipality? How would you address them?
