The inpatient unit at Seaforth Community Hospital is closed to admissions due to a COVID-19 outbreak, according to the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA).

HPHA released a statement on Saturday announcing that an outbreak had been declared, meaning at least two patients or team members have tested positive for COVID-19.

The hospital is now conducting contact tracing and testing for people in the unit.

Those who may have been affected by the outbreak are in the process of being notified.

“Family and Caregiver Presence on the [Inpatient] Unit has been restricted. The only exception is for palliative patients at end of life,” HPHA added in its statement. “Care teams will regularly update families/caregivers and make them aware of opportunities for virtual connections.”
