Army Corps moving ahead on project to block advance of Asian carp

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is moving forward with a big construction project to keep Asian carp from getting into the Great Lakes, and U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur is working to obtain the necessary funding. The Army Corps is backing plans to build a barrier at Brandon Road dam in Illinois, 27 miles southwest of Chicago, to keep carp infesting the Mississippi River and its tributaries from getting into Lake Michigan and then into the other Great Lakes.
