Letter to the Editor: Nuclear Confusion

Used nuclear fuel, used nuclear waste, high-level nuclear waste, spent fuel, low and intermediate waste, are you already confused? The NWMO (Nuclear Waste Management Organization) uses words to influence us and to market all of Canada’s nuclear waste as an attractive opportunity. The fact is that there are problems with burying nuclear waste. There have been accidents and environmental disasters associated with the burial of nuclear waste. The solution of burying the waste is not a solution to our nuclear waste problem, but one that the NWMO continues to market as a great opportunity for our community. This is Canada’s plan. 18000 Canadians voted for this project. This is less then 1.5% of the population. Does not sound like broad support to me. Read More
