A Note from the Bruce Beach Golf Club

As mentioned in our last note, we are planning a Work Bee to deal with some of the remaining of ash trees on the lower part of the course.

Date: Saturday September 30th

Time:  9am -12pm

We plan to drop the trees before the weekend and then on Saturday cut the trees to firewood length and remove the wood from the course.  Brush will be  piled and dealt with later.

Ainsdale Golf Course has been sold to Kincardine native and former U.S. collegiate golfer Taylor Candler (Schmidt) and her husband Charles, a golf pro who is originally from Sanford, Florida.  The Candlers, who currently reside in Wichita, Kansas, with their 4 ½ month old son Wyatt, will take over the 18-hole golf course on Jan.

Bruce Beachers

The Bruce Beach Golf Club is well underway for 2015.  A group of 12
volunteers under the direction of Brian MacEachern and David Wilson have
built a new shed near the 3rd tee to house the course maintenance equipment
and this replaces the old green shed which had a dirt floor and was barely
standing.  We would like to thank all the volunteers for their time and
effort in constructing this fine addition to the Golf Club.

You may be aware that last year we installed three new benches at tees 4, 6 and 7.  These were funded by three Beach families who chose their wording and the assembly and installation was done by the BBGC.

This year four more families have requested benches and these will be installed at tees 2, 3, 5 and 9.  We already have new benches at tees 1 & 8.  That leaves one tee without a new bench and that is the lower tee on #8.

John Lichtenberg’s report concerning the success of the Billy Open

The net donation to club from the Billy Open this year : $1750.  We've probably put $13-15k into the course since starting this event .  Wasn't - and isn't - the objective of the outing but certainly a nice byproduct.

Thanks to all the participants.
