Judge gives plaintiffs a week extension as algal bloom grows again



Ohio-based plaintiffs seeking strict limits on agricultural runoff allowed into Lake Erie streams and tributaries have been given until Monday to tell a U.S. District Judge how they would like the case to proceed. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approved the state’s first-ever Total Maximum Daily Load for the lake’s western basin last year, but plaintiffs claim it wasn’t strong enough and renewed their lawsuit.
