4H Conservation Club 2016 Spring Tree Plant! The hardworking children, parents, and leaders of the Ripley 4H Conservation Club came out on a beautiful Saturday on May 7th to help plant over 1,200 pine, white spruce, and cedar seedlings. Many parents took the opportunity to pair-up with their daughter or son to create fun and efficient tree-plating teams! Thank-you to Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority for funding the tree seedlings planted at this project location. Additionally, Thank-you to landowner Peter Schlegel for the donation of his land.

Productive Partnerships Complete Large-Scale Phorson Project

The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change's Ontario Community Environment Fund, along with Bruce Power provided funding to complete a large scale PRWIN project in the Penetangore Watershed on Concession 5. The project includes the planting of over 3,300 trees. 650 of those trees were hand planted by volunteers from Kincardine District Secondary School (KDSS) in partnership with the Penetangore Watershed Group and Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority. Livestock exclusion fencing was installed along both sides of the river throughout the property. An alternative water source was implemented for the cattle. Next up: a river cattle crossing using numerous concrete slabs which will be installed when the river is at its lowest point in late summer, early fall 2016.
Thank-you to our funders, community partners, and volunteers that made this large scale project a reality!

Over 22,000 Trees Planted on 17 Properties this Spring! Both hard and soft wood seedlings were planted across the Pine River Watershed and beyond this spring! Only 8,000 were planted by contracted professional tree planters, while the remaining 14,000 were planted by volunteers, and the famous PRWIN "Tree Planting Tractor". Thanks to the newly installed padded seats on the retro-fit tractor, the volunteer PRWIN directors didn't require a trip to their proctologist this year!

PRWIN planted 126 seedlings at the Ripley Cemetery this Spring. The PRWIN tree planter inserted 21 pine and 105 spruce into the boarder surrounding the extension.

PRWIN planted both hardwood and softwood seedlings over nine acres of property at the Snowbelen elevator property in Lucknow.
