There are two things you should know about this plan.

  1. Every attempt in the world to bury nuclear waste has failed to contain its deadly contents.
  2. More than 40 million people rely on the Great Lakes for drinking water.

Speak up. Help end this needless threat.

You can join other Canadians and Americans who will make their voices heard in Ottawa and Washington, and in the cities, provinces, and states where politicians have the responsibility to protect us from this threat to the Great Lakes.

We are SOS Great Lakes

We are SOS Great Lakes. Formerly known as Save Our Saugeen Shores, we helped stop an attempt by the Nuclear Waste Management Organization to bury high-level nuclear waste in Saugeen Shores, just north of Kincardine. Now we are concentrating our efforts on stopping the construction of OPG’s nuclear waste dump that is equally threatening to the environment.

Learn the facts and share them

Our new website, www.sosgreatlakes.org, forms the base of our 2016 campaign to stop this dangerous plan. On it you will find information based on expert testimony, abundant evidence submitted by critics of the proposal, and sources showing that every attempt in the world to dispose of nuclear waste underground has leaked. We have built this website so that this information can be shared with the millions of people who need to know about it. Visit our site now for updates and come back regularly for the latest posts.

Your voice is more powerful than you think!

By sharing our posts on social media, forwarding our emails to your friends and family, and encouraging your networks to pass this information along, you can help us alert the 40 million people relying on the Great Lakes for their water about this project.  With our unified voice of opposition, politicians on both sides of the border will have to listen and act to stop this plan.
