PRWIN SPONSORSHIP DAY
CELEBRATION OF
ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

 

PRWIN hosted a Sponsorship Day to thank the organizations supporting our environmental stewardship programs throughout our watershed community.  Chairperson David Grant and Project Coordinator Lisa Holland provided an overview of PRWIN's ongoing projects and programs, including tree planting, shoreline naturalization, stream restoration, livestock crossings, habitat creations, berms and wetlands and community outreach initiatives. Sponsors also learned about new environmental programs and the positive impact their contributions have on improving water quality and supporting our watershed.

Thank you to B.M. Ross & Associates, Corteva Agriscience, Enbridge, Meridian and OPG for joining us! Your commitment is what makes our environmental programs and projects possible. We extend our sincere appreciation to Armow Wind, Baywood Interior Millwork, Epcor, Greenfield Global, Howick Mutual Insurance, K2 Wind, RBC and the Society of United Professionals for their generous sponsorship and support.

FARM & FIELD WINDBREAK PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

 

Is wind erosion costing you valuable topsoil on your farm? 
We’re excited to launch our new Farm and Field Windbreak Partnership Program in the Pine River Watershed. Eligible farmers may receive 100% funding for windbreaks, including the cost of trees and planting.

EMBRACE NATURE AT THE MCLARTY CENTRE!

 
We are thankful for the support from Trillium Mutual Insurance for supporting the development of the McLarty Centre Woodland Trail Loop. Their investment in our trail initiative will improve access to nature and provide new opportunities for visitors to learn about local ecosystems.

We want to highlight the importance of the McLarty Centre area by developing more opportunities. The area hosts a conservation area for local youth organizations, environmental groups, individuals, and families to discover nature in our local environment. Enjoy walking the trail, bird watching, two wetland ponds, an osprey nest, photography, pollinator garden, educational storyboards, learning opportunities in an outdoor classroom and reconnecting with nature.

The McLarty Environmental Study Area is located on
Bruce County Road 6/Side Road 20 in the Township of Huron Kinloss.
It is open to the public to enjoy the great outdoors!

2ND KINCARDINE SCOUTS

 
The 2nd Kincardine Scouts stopped in at the McLarty Centre!
The property provides a conservation area for local organizations and our community to engage in nature and learn about the biology of ecosystems, animals and plants as well as discovering our watershed.

ROOTS OF KNOWLEDGE AT THE MCLARTY CENTRE

 

Thank you to Community Foundation Grey Bruce for supporting our Roots Of Knowledge At The McLarty Education Centre - Tree Identification.
With their support, we have planted native species including White Pine, White Cedar, Eastern Hemlock, Tamarack, Red Maple, Swamp White Oak and Basswood. 
The trees will increase biodiversity, provide shade and create a more engaging outdoor learning environment for the community.

Check out the new pollinator garden at the McLarty Education Centre!
Thank you to Jim and Christine from the Ripley & District Horticultural Society for leading this initiative that will provide habitat and
food sources for pollinators.

 2026 Potted Tree Ash Replacement Program
This year, our program will offer one of the following species: red maple, sugar maple, bur oak and red oak.
