Tall Ship Stormy weather and mechanical problems forced the Toronto Brigantine into Kincardine harbour last summer. But when they arrive Friday, they will be greeted with a welcoming party.

The Municipality will greet the TS Playfair and the STV Pathfinder with bagpipers, drummers and an 1812 motif. The two tall ships have been sailing the Great Lakes all summer – as they do every summer – teaching teenagers the ins and outs of life on a ship.

It is estimated the two ships will arrive at about 5 p.m. Friday at Kincardine harbour. The welcome will be followed by a barbecue at the home of Peter Humble. Humble graciously hosted the crew last summer during the stormy weather, and the returning crew members are excited for a visit.

You’ll be able to get a look at the tall ships Saturday and Sunday. Everyone is invited to come to the harbour for a dock tour on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, or Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.
