Thanks to the many replies and several sign-ons to the draft letter circulated last week offering advice to the Canadian federal minister of the environment on the conduct of the review of the "additional information" Ontario Power Generation was to have provided by the end of 2016 about their proposal to bury nuclear waste beside Lake Huron.

Ash Borer Information from Pine River Watershed Initiative Network

Information on the Emerald Ash Borer

The EAB has killed millions of trees in southwestern Ontario since 2002. This highly destructive insect poses a significant economic and environmental threat to all forests and urban areas. The EBA attacks all species of ash (except the Mountain Ash-not a true ash). Here's some information on the signs to look for, and some resources for inoculations, if you wish to try and save your ash tree.

Bruce Beach BBQ Thank you

Wasn't that a Party!!

I hope everyone enjoyed the BBQ on Saturday. A special thanks to all the McCosh Grove neighbours who live within shouting distance of the Club House. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

I think it is high time to recognize Karen Gaudino, Brian Cass, and Creemore Breweries. For years they have supplied (free of charge) the wonderful beer for not only our BBQ but also the Billy Open. If you'd like to show your appreciation maybe the next time you go to buy beer you could purchase something from Creemore Breweries.

Souvenir History of Bruce Beach

FOR well over forty years the Summer Resort known as Bruce Beach on Lake Huron’s friendly shore has been the holiday rendezvous for health-seekers, pleasure-seekers and tor those who were just tired. From a very modest beginning the popularity and the population have grown by leaps and bounds. The need of having some sort of historical souvenir which would preserve the happy annals of the Beach had been keenly felt for a long time. It was not, however, until the year 1915 that the meeting of this need took concrete form.

A History of Bruce Beach

Shortly after the Bruce Beach Historical Society was formed in the Fall of 1981, I was having lunch with a friend. When asked why I had given up curling that year, one of the two or three reasons I mentioned was my interest in publishing history of Bruce Beach, where my family had been spending their summers for more than sixty years. "How fortunate you are to have such roots", replied my friend.
