Year of Birth

(April 6, 1945 - October 24, 2017)
Ken passed away peacefully in his sleep at Kensington Gardens after a long battle with dementia. Son of the late Gerald Oswald Loach and Helen Davidson Loach. Beloved husband of Jackie Baker Loach for 40 years. Cherished father of David Loach and Megan Loach Tomulka (Mitch). Grandfather to Richard Langton Tomulka. Dear brother to Elizabeth Ridgely (late Gordon Ridgely). Uncle to Justine Ridgely Taylor (Douglas), Zachary Ridgely (Laura Adamo), and Duncan Ridgely. Great-uncle to Sophia, Ben and Luke. Special godfather to James Pierce Langton Lynn.

Ken was educated at Ridley College, graduated from Waterloo University in Chemical Engineering and obtained his MBA at York University. He began his career at Proctor & Gamble in marketing and went on to hold executive positions in the consumer packaged goods industry followed by senior management roles in corporate wellness consulting. He was a valued business leader, conference speaker, and strategic coach, admired by his peers and colleagues. Ken was the consummate showman and salesman, known for his skill in the boardroom.

Ken also dedicated his time to being a scout leader, hockey and baseball coach and active father in the lives of his two children. He was an accomplished cook and, with Jackie, loved to entertain. He will be remembered by family and many friends for his sense of fun, sharp wit, propensity for teasing, boisterous laugh and big heart. Ken was an avid sportsman enjoying cricket, skiing, tennis, squash, sailing and, of course, golf with his Waterloo buddies. He savoured summers at Bruce Beach, Lake Huron and many moments with the revered family pug, Colonel. Ken loved travelling the world with Jackie and friends. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Kensington Gardens, Sussex East for their compassionate care.

Also special thanks to caregivers Loreta and Imelda. Friends and family are invited to join us at a memorial service to celebrate his life on Friday, November 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the MORLEY BEDFORD FUNERAL HOME, 159 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto (2 stop lights west of Yonge Street). In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, The Baycrest Foundation, Scouts Canada or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
