Ian had a great love of Bruce Beach with many fond memories. He established the first "Men of the Trees" in Canada and planted over 3,000 trees in Tout's Grove and the surrounding area. His father, Allan MacEachern, wrote the words for many of the Bruce Beach concerts, including "Bruce Beach Will Shine Tonight". Ian was the sole publisher of the first History of Bruce Beach book.

There will be a private family celebration of his life in the spring of 2019.
