TIMOTHY E. ALEXANDER age 58, loving husband of 18 years to Sandi (nee Schiefler); father of Jarrett; beloved son of Ann and the late William; brother of Jeanne Stocks (Brian) and John Alexander (Karen); loving son-in-law of Anita and William Schiefler, brother-in –law and uncle. Tim was a mentor, teacher, coach and friend who touched so many lives. Passed away, Tuesday, January 26, 2016.

 

Tim Alexander has been in the Cleveland area for over 30 years coaching at the Junior "A", High School, Midget Major U18 and Division 1 NCAA levels. For the past 5 years Alexander has been the Hockey Director and Head Coach U18 of the Cleveland Barons Hockey Club. His 2013-14 team won the T1EHL regular season championship, and has taken two of his last 3 teams to the USA Hockey Nationals. His teams are consistently ranked in the top ten in the United States. Most importantly the professional educator has developed over 30 players in just the past 3 years to be able to move on and play junior hockey. Alexander had been the General Manager and Head Coach of the Cleveland Barons Hockey club (NAHL Junior A ). His two stints were from 1993 thru 2001 and 2002 thru 2005. During the 2001-2002 season he was the full time Assistant Coach at Bowling Green State University in the CCHA. While with the Barons he was twice named the North American Hockey League Coach of the Year and has had 21 players drafted into the NHL and over 150 go onto collegiate hockey, with these players earning over 5 million is scholarship money. His record with the Junior A Barons was 311-241-31, while spending time on the Board of Governors in the NAHL as well as being a member of the Budget and Selection committee. In addition, Alexander was director and one of the founders of the Cleveland Barons AAA Youth program in 1994, which currently has ten youth teams with over 200 boys and girls participating: served as Head Coach of the Cleveland North Coast Barons, Champions of the NAJHL Junior B League during the 1992-1993 season. He was an assistant coach at St. Edward High School from 1990-1992, helping the team capture the 1992 Ohio State High School Championship. His first coaching position was Head Coach of Rocky River High School from 1980 thru 1986 compiling an impressive record of 122-61-8. Alexander is a 1980 graduate of Bowling Green, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education with a minor in Athletic Coaching. In the four years that Alexanderplayed for the Falcons, the team captured three Central Collegiate Hockey Association Championships and earned three NCAA Tournament bids. Alexander has developed a national reputation as one of the top instructors as various hockey schools over the last 35 years. He has been an instructor at Michigan State University's Summer Camp for over 15 years, Huron Hockey School, BGSU Hockey School and other various local camps.

Funeral Mass, St. Christopher Church, 20141 Detroit Rd., Rocky River, Monday, February 1st at 11:00 AM. Interment Private. Friends may call at the McGORRAY-HANNA FUNERAL HOME OF WESTLAKE, 25620 Center Ridge Rd. (West of Columbia Rd.), SUNDAY from 1 – 5 PM.
