It is with profound sadness that the Corneil family announces the sudden death of their beautiful daughter Alexa Michelle Corneil at the age of 19. Alexa died peacefully in her sleep due to an arrhythmia from an undiagnosed heart condition early in the morning of Sunday March 26, 2017 while visiting her uncle`s family in London, Ontario.

Alexa leaves behind to grieve her beloved parents Dr. Glenn and Paule Corneil, her adored siblings Patrick (Tarra), Heidi and Scott as well as her cherished grandparents Claire and Michel Duval of Val d’Or and Barbara and Derek Corneil of Toronto. Also grieving is her adorable great-grandmother Isobel McKinnon of Collingwood as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

Alexa will always be remembered as a talented athlete whose passion was hockey, though she loved a multitude of sports. She was an amazing goal scorer and her commitment to the Puckhounds and girls' hockey helped spur on the growth of the game locally for girls of all ages. She was also very intelligent, a quiet leader, a dependable friend and a very mature, caring and funny young woman. She was a proud Apollo and she was completing her first year in Sport Management and Administration at Brock University at the time of her death.

The family will receive friends and family at the Riverside Place, 55 Riverside Drive, New Liskeard on Thursday, March 30 from 7 until 9 pm , as well as on Friday, March 31 from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. A private family visitation will be held at the Riverside Place on Saturday, April 1 from 10 am until 10:45 am.

Funeral will be celebrated on April 1, 2017 at 11 am from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church,116 Dymond St, New Liskeard, ON. Rev. Dr. Judith Visser and Father Richard Ngoy officiating.

The family will gratefully acknowledge contributions to the Temiskaming Foundation (www.temiskamingfoundation.org) or payable by cheque, Box 160 New Liskears, ON P0J 1P0 where a fund in Alexa’s memory has been established in order to support local sport initiatives including her beloved Tri-Town Ski Village.
