Jon Vickers (Cottage 41) Jonathan Stewart Vickers was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on October 29 1926, the sixth of eight children, to a family that was musical but poor. So impoverished were his parents that at one time the future Canadian prime minister, John Diefenbaker, a long-standing friend of the family, offered to care for young Jon. As a child he and his siblings sang with his lay-preacher father, a former teacher, at churches near their home. Summers were spent labouring on a neighbour’s farm, where he developed his barrel chest.
Susan lost her battle against cancer and passed away July 11, 2015 in Attleboro, Massachusetts surrounded by her loving family. Sue is survived by her husband David Mochi and her three sons Jason, Christopher and Ben and her extended Yates families.
Passed away at Hampton Terrace on Saturday May 23rd, 2015. Loving wife of John for 56 years. She will be dearly missed by her sister Louise, brother Gilles and her children Chuck (Lisa), Dave (Julie) and Louise (Scott). Devoted grandmother to Corinna, Darryl, Alex and Jack and great-grandmother to Sophie.
The Little Book Library in Cameron Grove no longer has any children’s books(about ages 7-14). Apparently there has been more “taking” than “leaving”, which is a good sign that reading is taking place at Bruce Beach. If anyone along the beach has a few children’s books(for boys and girls) that their children or grandchildren no longer want, please deposit them in the Library as you head to town or attend Junior baseball games.
Aerial and ground surveys are underway in several locations across northern Ontario as the Nuclear Waste Management Organization moves through its current set of investigations of 18 areas mapped out over the last year by the NWMO as "potentially suitable" for a deep geological repository for high level nuclear waste. As of January 2015, over 300,000 hectares had been "withdrawn" from mineral exploration or other changes to land tenure "while the Nuclear Waste Management Organization conducts preliminary field assessment activities".
William "Bill" Lichtenberg, age 88, July 3, 2015. Beloved husband to Jean. Loving father of Julie (Joel) Stern, Betsy (Mark) Lebeis, M.D., and John (Anne) Lichtenberg. Dear grandfather of Sascha and Marissa Stern, Christopher (Carolyn) Lebeis, M.D., Taylor (Jessica) Lebeis, M.D., Mackenzie Lebeis, J.P., Eric, and Clara Lichtenberg.
Opening the festival at the 4 o'clock concerts in the park is the band Run Coyote with long time beacher Amanda Grant and her husband Sam Allen. Be sure to come and hear them in Kincardine on August 2ndin Victoria Park. Best of all, it's a free concert!

Sunday August 2, 4:00pm in Victoria Park, Kincardine
FREE CONCERT
The open house at the Clubhouse is from 1 pm to 4pm. Two guests from NWMO with be available to answer questions and discuss the community involvement process. An expert in geoscience will be attending to answer questions concerning the type of site characteristics the project is looking for to ensure the long term safety of the storage of the nuclear material.

They’re catching on, mini lending libraries have been announced in Cameron Grove, Tout’s Grove, and now, Gordon Street. A great idea and those instrumental in installing them are to be congratulated.
