Huron United FC (HUFC) soccer team collected their first win of the season on June 18 with a 4-2 victory over rivals Riverside FC B. Striker Gerrit Satosek nearly gave HUFC an early lead after forcing a turnover in the second minute but it went wide of the goal. Moments later, attacking midfielder Ryan Schriek was rewarded when he placed a perfect free kick inside the left post.

Two area residents have brought the outdoor sport of road hockey, indoors. Eric Grebenjak and Mike Johnston teamed up last year to form the Kincardine Ball Hockey League (KBHL). Started as a fun league for one age group, they’ve now added multiple ages and have close to 90 youth signed

About a dozen baseball teams from across Ontario took part in the 18U Tournament held over the weekend at Connaught Park in Kincardine. Saturday morning saw the Kincardine Cardinals face Lucan-Ilderton, losing 7-3. The tournament wrapped up on Sunday.

Riders of all ages took part in the Tour of Kincardine bike race on Sunday. Two course options were offered that included routes through the trails, offering different road surfaces. Races began at Harbour Street and ended at Geddes Park.

Favourite pastime is alive and well in the area

Baseball in Kincardine and area has hit a higher level than ever before, thanks to more kids playing the popular pastime. Along with higher registration numbers, Kincardine’s baseball teams saw a winning season last year across the board. (By Liz Small)

The Municipality of Kincardine announced the launch of the Beach Blazers Volunteer Program, which was developed from recommendations made in the Pier Safety Ad-hoc Committee (PSAC) report received by Council in March 2024. Like the Trail Blazers program which launched in 2023, Beach Blazers will walk the Station Beach waterfront during peak beach times, acting as ambassadors and an extra set of eyes for the Municipality.
