On a beautiful sunny August Saturday, the For Our Youth (FOY) horticulture club met at the Bruce Botanical Food Gardens (BBFG) to tour the gardens, sample different food grown there, and harvest the vegetables we had planted in the spring. Introductions were made with our host Olivia, the BBFG garden

The first day back for Bluewater District schools was just nicely underway when 30 members and guests of the South Bruce branch of the Retired Women Teachers of Ontario/Organization des eneignantes retraitées de l’Ontario (RWTO/OERO) arrived at the Ainsdale Golf Course for their annual not-going-back-to-school breakfast. HURON – A new pilot program launching in Huron County is aiming to confront the growing rates of homelessness in the county head on. The Community Paramedic Homelessness Outreach program is set to launch Wednesday, Sept. 10, and will see Huron County paramedics and Huron housing and homelessness services staff

Spectators at the 28th Bruce Grey Holstein Show held Aug. 26 at the Walkerton Fairgrounds watched as Kevin McGriskin of Melancthon placed 98 head of Holsteins exhibited by breeders of Bruce, Grey and Huron counties. Grand Champion of the show was the Senior Two-Year-Old Cow class winner “Hodglynn Alpha Aspen,”

As the summer season comes to an end, fall fairs are starting to pop up around the region. The Kincardine Agricultural Society is hosting its 174th fall fair at Connaught Park on Labour Day weekend. Themed “Fields, Flannels, and Friends,” admission to the event is $5 per person with children

The For Our Youth (FOY) club had a special July meeting this summer. We were warmly welcomed to the beautiful native gardens at the home of Christine and Jim Roberts in Blair’s Grove. FOY doesn’t usually meet in July, due to the heat and vacation schedules, but we couldn’t resist
